They get you, they provide you with up-to-date information and mentoring about the current workforce, how to get back into the field and how to do it with confidence in yourself no matter what your path was to get here. They are a female-focused source to help pivot your apprehensions into an action plan and personal success.”
Six sessions that improve a job search journey!
Session 1 - Navigating your job search and Cover Letters / References that get Results
Session 2 - Your Personal Brand: Putting Your Best Face Forward
Session 3 - Identifying Employment Objectives / Organizing Your Job Search
Session 4 - Managing Job Rejection, and Identifying Transferable Job Skills
Session 5 - Everything About The Interview/ Mock Interviewing
Session 6 - Career Panel and Graduation
And just like that, the Going Places Network Job Search Program (GPN) has concluded!
17 women improved their chances of a successful job search by meeting with industry professionals, working on their personal brand and elevator pitch, crafting a compelling story to better explain a career gap as well as identifying passions and skills they want to put forward in future roles.
Some sessions covered the technical aspects of job searching like how to bypass Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) to get in front of a live hiring manager while other sessions provided tools to address the emotional roller coaster job searching can often feel like.
The sessions were fast-paced and each coursework enabled the learners to take time for self-reflection.
Out of the 17 graduates, one has already secured employment!
When asked if the program met her expectations, a graduate replied:
I absolutely love that it is a female-focused source to help women pivot careers or return from an absence in the work field. I have more confidence in myself and best of all, I have an action plan for my job search.
